Shockwave Therapy or Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is an amazing new option for the treatment of chronic pain. It is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic shock waves to break down scar tissue and fibrous adhesions, stimulate healing, and provide lasting pain relief.

Shockwave Therapy Q & A
Who can benefit from Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave Therapy has been shown to be effective on a wide range of chronic conditions. Here are some of the most common conditions that typically respond really well to shockwave:
- Peripheral Neuropathy
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Morton’s Neuroma
- Frozen Shoulder
- Tennis/Golfer’s Elbow
- IT Band Syndrome
- Knee Pain
- Cellulite
- Healing (Ex. C-section)
- Bursitis
- Heel Spurs
- Trigger Points
- Hamstring Injuries
- Rotator Cuff Pain
- Chronic Joint Pain
- Patellar Tendonitis
- Leg Pain
- Scar Tissue
Does the treatment hurt?
Many patients do experience some discomfort during shockwave treatment, but the treatment intensity can be adjusted as needed to make sure it is comfortable enough for the patient and many patients will experience some immediate pain relief and improved range of motion. Patients may also feel soreness in the area of treatment for a day or two afterward, similar to a strenuous workout.
How much does it cost and is it covered by insurance?
Unfortunately, even though there is a lot of research showing how beneficial it can be, Shockwave Therapy still isn’t covered by health insurance at this time. The overall cost varies depending on the number of areas being treated and the number of treatments needed for each area.
At Mesa Chiropractic Rehab and Wellness our Shockwave Therapy treatments cost $60 for one area and $30 for each additional area (up to 4 areas total).
For example, if you had treatment on both knees treated it would be $90 per session. If you have any questions or would like more information give us a call at 480-644-1227.
